Project Scope:
24 RJ Watson Disktron bearings are being installed to support the loads and movements of the Bonner Bridge, a lifeline structure 70 feet above the Oregon Inlet in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Four 4850-kip fixed disk bearings, 18 guided expansion disk bearings (ranging from 750-kip to 5800-kp, and two 750-kip multi-directional expansion disk bearings will be installed on this 2.8-mile bridge replacement project. Four of the guided expansion disk bearings also provide restraint against localized uplift forces.
