Project Description:
Excellent progress has been made on the Selmon Expressway Extension in Tampa, Florida. This $220 Million, 1.9 mile-long viaduct is being constructed by Kiewit Infrastructure and was designed by AECOM. The bulk of the project is precast segmental construction with some steel tub girders at the interchange.
There are a total of 139 Disktron Bearings being manufactured for this prestigious project ranging 550 to 3050 kips in vertical service load capacity with horizontal loads up to 30% of the vertical and the movements are as large as +/- 8 inches.
In addition, bearings were designed to various, specific vertical stiffness values to meet the needs of the bridge design team. RJ Watson Disktron Bearings were selected for this project based on their long term performance history coupled with a cost effective design.
